The Somerset Cricket Museum at the County Ground has just re-opened it's doors for the new season and for any fan of the summer game a visit to the Old Priory Barn which houses the museum is a must.

Surprisingly however many people are unaware of the award winning museum's existence, let alone pay it a visit when they are at the County Ground.

In an effort to attract some new visitors the Somerset Cricket Museum will be holding an Open Evening to which all are invited, after the close of play on Thursday May 8th, the second day of the home championship match against Hampshire.

Entry to the evening is free as are the refreshments that will be available to all who go along to have a look around what is considered by the experts to be one of the best of it's kind in the world.

As an added bonus Somerset's very own Marcus Trescothick, along with several others of the players will be in attendance to officially launch a limited edition print that local artist Mike Tarr has produced to coincide with the local heroes benefit year, part of the proceeds of which will go to the museum.

The Somerset Cricket Museum is normally open from April until the end of October from Tuesday to Friday between 10am and 4pm, and on match days from an hour before the start of play until the end of the tea interval.
