Andy Caddick took the next step towards his return to playing cricket for Somerset when he had his first bowl outside since leaving the field injured during the opening match of the season against Cambridge UCCE up at Fenners.

Afterwards 'Caddy'  told somersetcountycc.co.uk: "This is the next step in my rehab programme and I am glad to say that it all went well. We will be taking things step by step but I am looking forward to getting back."

Although the 'big man' is keen to make a swift return to playing for Somerset it is likely that the club will want to make sure that Caddick is completely recovered and fully match fit before they name last season's wicket taker in the line up, which will certainly not be this week.

Meanwhile Somerset Seconds take on their Surrey counterparts at Taunton Cricket Club in a four-day championship match that gets underway on Tuesday morning.

Entry to the match is free and there is plenty of parking available at Gipsy Lane.

All rounder Lloyd Alley, who is 17 years old and part of the Richard Huish Academy makes his debut in the match.

The Somerset squad is - Arul Suppiah, John Francis, Wes Durston, Omari Banks, Carl Gazzard, Keith Parsons, Dan Davis, Michael Munday, Andy Sutton, Max Waller, Lloyd Alley and Karl Abbot.
