MARCUS READY FOR SUSSEX
Marcus Trescothick expects to be fit for Somerset's LV County Championship game against Sussex at Taunton, starting tomorrow.
The opening batsman injured an achilles tendon while fielding in Sunday's Friends Provident Trophy game against Gloucestershire at Bristol.
But today Marcus told somersetcountycc.co.uk: "It has settled down and I was able to do some training this morning.
"If it was a one-day game I might not risk playing, but I spend a fair amount of time standing at slip in Championship matches and I'm confident I will get through with some strapping on my ankle.
"I can't afford not to play. We need a win to kick-start our Championship campaign after two draws and I want to be involved."
Mark Turner is again ruled out by his abdominal strain, but is making good progress towards recovery, while Andy Caddick remains unavailable because of his shoulder problem.
Alfonso Thomas is also under treatment for a hamstring injury, but hopes to be fit for Sunday's Friends Provident home game against Worcestershire.
Sussex arrive at Taunton without former Somerset leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed, who is recovering from surgery on a knee.
