Max Waller could be out of action for a month or more after receiving the results of a scan on his side strain.

The young leg-spinner was injured during the Twenty20 Cup win over Gloucestershire at Bristol and now faces a lengthy recovery programme.

Somerset coach Andy Hurry told somersetcountycc.co.uk: "If Max was a pace bowler we would probably be talking about six weeks on the sidelines.

"But he is a very fit lad and it could be anything between two and six weeks before he is available again.

That means Waller can look to target the Twenty20 Cup quarter-final against Lancashire at Old Trafford on Tuesday July 28th.
