Rob made his first class debut for Somerset in August 2005, just a day after signing a two-year contract with the county. He made an immediate impact and scored 46 not out against Worcestershire at New Road and claimed his first championship wicket in the same match.
He went on to play in three championship matches, scoring a total of 54 runs and he took two wickets, with his best return being one for 78.He also appeared in four totesport League matches and enjoyed his best bowling return of one for 38 from nine overs when he made his home debut against Durham.
Rob didn't make any championship or one-day appearances in 2006 nor in 2007 and will be playing for the MCC Young Cricketers in 2008.
The nineteen year old attended The Castle School in Taunton, before moving onto Richard Huish College where he combined his studies with attending the Academy at the County Ground.
Rob toured the West Indies with the West Of England Under 15 team and returned to play in Barbados with his school not long after. He has represented England at both Under 15 and 17 age groups and at the end of 2005 was selected to go on the Under 19 tour to Bangladesh.
In addition to cricket, Rob enjoys playing football and was a member of the Bristol City Football Academy. He was also a member of the Taunton Tigers Basketball Academy as well as the South West Tennis Academy and supports Tottenham Hotspur.
