ZANDER DE BRUYN

Right hand batsman, Right arm medium-fast bowler.

South African all rounder Zander de Bruyn has joined Somerset as a Kolpak player for the 2008 season.

Between 1996 and 2001-02 Zander played for Guatang before moving to play for  Easterns where he helped them to a series victory with a win over Western Province.

Since 2006 Zander has played for the Warriors and is currently their captain.

He has played in three Test matches for South Africa making his debut appearance against India in November 2004 at Kanpur, when he hit 83 his best at international level. During that tour he also recorded his best bowling figures for South Africa of two for 32 at Calcutta.

In the 2003-4 season Zander became only the second player after Barry Richards to top 1000 runs in a domestic South African season in either SuperSport or Currie Cup.

He played English first class cricket in 2005 for Worcestershire.

Zander is married and has a young son  so when he is not playing cricket enjoys spending time at home with his family.
