CASTLE SCHOOL GIRLS NOTCH UP A DOUBLE
The Centre of Excellence at the County Ground in Taunton recently hosted the County Finals of the Lady Taverners Girls Under13 and Under 15 Competition.
The Under 13 Competition was contested by Castle School and Ladymead School who played a two innings match consisting of eight overs per side.
In their first innings Castle scored 49 runs to Ladymead's 51. In the second innings the scores reversed with Castle (60 runs) defeating Ladymead (36 runs) by an overall score of 22 runs. Both teams played their part in an entertaining game but in the end it was congratulations to Castle School whose all round cricket skills were very impressive.
In the Under 15 competition, four schools contested the County Finals. In the semi finals it was Castle School and King Arthur's School who won through, beating Backwell School and Hugh Sexey's School respectively.
In the play off for third and fourth place Backwell defeated Sexey's School to finish third, while in the County Final, Castle overcame a spirited performance from King Arthur's School to complete a double in the Lady Taverner's Competitions.
Castle School will now go on to represent Somerset in the regional finals of both competitions, congratulations to them. Somerset Cricket Board would like to thank all the schools that competed for making both competitions very entertaining.
